Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s President, Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo reportedly led the Ceremony of the Birth of Pancasila on Dumai on Saturday (06/01). During this agenda, Dumai’s Mayor Paisal SKM., Mars delivered the city’s aspirations to the President.
Before the President Jokowi, Paisal reported the latest condition of Turap Sheet Pile in Dumai’s offshore. He stated that the infrastructure was badly damaged, thus people near coastal areas experienced the impact due to the abrasion and sea tides. He hopes that the revitalization of the infrastructure can be the focus of both the central government and local government.
In terms of transportation sector, Mayor Paisal mentioned two critical infrastructures in Dumai that needs the special attention from the Central Govenment, namely Parit Kitang Ring Road and Pinang Kampai Airport.
In the meeting, he proposed the acceleration of Parit Kitang Ring Road construction to the President. He expects the infrastructure development can be finalized in 2025, thus heavy trucks are no longer crossing densely populated areas.
“I hope the construction of this road can be accelerated, thus heavy tonnage vehicles will no longer cross densely populated areas like Purnama,” voiced Paisal.
According to Dumai’s Mayor, the new infrastructure also can reduce heavy traffic significantly, so the economic activity in the city can turn faster.
Moreover, as cited in Riau Pos, the suggestion to reopen Pinang Kampai Airport was also delivered by the Mayor to President Jokowi. In his report, the reactivation of the airport can efficiently enhance society’s mobility. Mobility is perceived to be more efficient as the citizens do not need to transit in Pekanbaru anymore to travel to several places. Some areas, such as Pekanbaru, Dumai, Rokan Hilir Regency, and Bengkalis Regency, will also obtain a positive impact on this measure.
