Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Covid-19 pandemic has had a bursting effect on global and domestic sharia economic and financial sectors, leaving them struggling to survive. Tourism is one of the most affected industries, followed by the fashion industry on the next line. Therefore, the Sustainable Moslem Fashion Indonesia Shari’a Economic Festival (ISEF 2021) is expected to provide business continuity in related sectors.
Despite the fact that the national economy had suffered as a result of the pandemic, the situation gradually improved and economic activity resumed. This is the right time for the Indonesian fashion industry, particularly Muslim fashion, to resurrect.
Sustainable Muslim Fashion ISEF 2021, organized by Bank Indonesia in collaboration with the Indonesian Fashion Chamber and the Indonesia Halal Lifestyle Center (IHLC) as part of the 8th Indonesia Shari’a Economic Festival (ISEF). This event is expected to be a forum for accelerating the implementation of the Muslim fashion ecosystem and raising the optimism of sharia business actors during the pandemic.
Sustainable Muslim Fashion ISEF 2021 began on October 27, 2021, and will last four days in a hybrid (online and offline) format at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) and the ISEF virtual platform under the theme “New Normal is Sustainable Fashion.” This year, the Sustainable Muslim Fashion ISEF showcases 157 fashion designers, 41 brand accessories, and 797 looks by Indonesian fashion designers and members of the Indonesian Sharia Creative Industry (IKRA) in the fashion and accessories sectors.
At least three factors can encourage the rise of Indonesian Muslim fashion, which is highlighted in the ISEF 2021 Sustainable Muslim Fashion, namely innovation to create new products, strengthening sustainable fashion branding, and the use of digitalization to capture larger market opportunities and realize Indonesia as a global mecca for Muslim fashion and halal products.
On the second day of the Sustainable Muslim Fashion ISEF 2021 event, it presents a series of exhibition activities and fashion shows for Muslim fashion by Indonesian fashion designers and members of the Indonesian Sharia Creative Industry (IKRA) in the fashion and accessories sector who have implemented sustainable fashion branding, optimized innovation, and used digitalization.

This year, ISEF welcomes back national and international buyers/resellers, recognizing the importance of resellers/buyers in the Muslim fashion industry ecosystem.
Fashion shows and exhibitions present Muslim fashion products and accessories with quality designs and qualities that are ready to compete in the global market, and they apply the concept of sustainable fashion, namely the use of raw materials and local human resources to drive the local economy, but they also refer to global trends and concern for the environment and society.
The implementation of Sustainable Muslim Fashion ISEF 2021 is expected to be able to reintroduce Muslim fashion business actors in the country after the pandemic to create and innovate sustainably in an effort to realize Indonesia as a mecca for Muslim fashion and halal world products.
