Heaptalk, Jakarta—Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif is optimistic that the community’s electricity supply will be reliable during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriah.
During his visit to the Gresik Steam Gas Power Plant (PTLGU) on Thursday (04/04), Arifin appreciated the State Electricity Company’s (PLN) efforts to maintain a reliable electricity system for the community. “PLN has taken significant steps to overcome bottlenecks in the electricity system. For all physical and technical readiness, I think everything is safe. PLN has taken anticipatory and preventive steps towards systems and programs,” said Arifin.
Arifin also emphasized that PLN carries out regular checks, ensuring that the electricity supply is reliable and safe during this Eid al-Fitr moment and as part of its routine operations. He said, “This aims to maximize service, and there is no electricity disruption for the community.”
On the same occasion, PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo, represented by Generation Management Director Adi Lumakso, explained that the national electricity system during the Ramadan and Idul Fitri alert period 1445 H on April 3-19, 2024, is in a safe condition. The highest National Peak Load projection in the alert period is 44,011 Megawatts (MW) with a supply capable power (DMP) of 52,638 MW, leaving total reserves of 8,627 MW.
“PLN has a very reliable electricity supply. We also ensure the national power balance. Power reserves are sufficient. We have made all preparations well in advance,” said Adi. He also is optimistic that the primary energy supply for the generator is in a safe position. There is no emergency status in the coal supply for PLN’s PLTUs, with an average of 22.2 – 31.9 operating days.
Likewise for gas supply, which is at a volume of 802.84 billion British thermal units (BBTU) for generators in the Java-Madura-Bali region, 226.03 BBTU for Sumatra, 53.56 BBTU for Kalimantan and 35.86 BBTU for Sulawesi. Meanwhile, the fuel supply is also in good condition, with average reserves reaching 14.3 HOP in all regions of the country.
During the Ramadan and Idul Fitri 1445 H alert period, PLN tasks 81,591 personnel at 2,766 posts. These personnel are equipped with 1,731 generator sets, 735 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), 1,206 Mobile Substation Units (UGB), 188 Mobile Cable Units (UKB)/Mobile Cable and Cubicle Units (UKKB), 19 mobile transformers, 33 standby ERS, 395 cranes, 3,756 cars and 3,318 motorbikes operational. Supporting infrastructure for electric vehicles for homecoming travelers is also being prepared, such as 1,299 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) spread throughout Indonesia.
