Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s geothermal energy producer, Barito Renewables (IDX: BREN), has partnered with Kyndryl (NYSE: KD), the world’s largest IT infrastructure services provider, to adopt a cloud-native environment and integrate generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) into its operations.
Through Star Energy’s Geothermal subsidiary, Barito Renewables will leverage Kyndryl Bridge, an AI-powered open integration platform, to optimize IT operations with advanced automation and AI Operations (AIOps) capabilities. These technologies utilize artificial intelligence and machine learning to provide real-time insights into IT system performance, proactively detect potential issues, and enhance system reliability by predicting failures before they occur. This also automates routine IT tasks, streamlines workflows, and enables IT teams to focus on strategic initiatives.
“Cloud technology empowers us to be more agile, connected, and technologically advanced as we respond to shifting energy market demands and preferences. It is the pathway to the future, driving innovation and efficiency, optimizing operations, reducing costs, and supporting our transition to renewable energy while maintaining our commitment to sustainability.” Merly, the Director and Corporate Secretary of Barito Renewables, said.
Aligned with the Indonesian government’s emphasis on fostering long-term economic growth through energy security and digital transformation, clean energy represents a strategic opportunity to diversify the nation’s economy while improving energy affordability and reliability. Building on a trusted partnership since 2017, Kyndryl will migrate Barito Renewables’ on-premises IT workloads to Microsoft Azure Cloud to accelerate cloud innovation and enhance customer service in clean energy.
Kyndryl is also actively supporting the modernization of Star Energy Geothermal’s network infrastructure by updating technologies and implementing enhancements to improve network performance. Key initiatives include adopting Software-Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN), which optimizes bandwidth utilization, strengthens security, and enhances application performance across distributed locations using network automation.
Additionally, Kyndryl is assisting Barito Renewables in upgrading its unified communication system to create a more scalable and agile platform that facilitates seamless collaboration and communication within the organization.
“The global energy sector is rapidly evolving with cutting-edge cloud technologies, and Barito Renewables is making bold strides in leveraging artificial intelligence to meet changing business needs. We are delighted to continue our partnership with Star Energy and look forward to fostering sustained innovation through generative AI and machine learning.” Effendi Azmi Hashim, Managing Director of Kyndryl Malaysia and Indonesia, added.
