Heaptalk, Jakarta (11/04) – The sales of four-wheeled vehicles in Indonesia in March 2022 surpassed the amazing accomplishment statistic, which was the highest in the previous two years.

Wholesale sales statistics in March 2022 reached 98,524 units, while retail sales figures in the same month reached 89,811 units. These amounts have attained the normal transaction as the sales before the pandemic.

GAIKINDO, on behalf of the Indonesian automotive industry, expressed its gratitude to the Authority, especially the Ministry of Industry, for its support of the industry through different policies that help the industry grow.

The Ministry’s strategy for the automotive industry, namely through the relaxation of Sales Tax on Luxury Goods borne (PPnBM), has effectively fostered market enthusiasm and pushed high demand. The policy has also re-energized the SMEs that support the automotive industry, thus the overall relaxation policy has been able to move and revive the ecosystem of all lines of the Indonesian automotive industry, which is one of the mainstay sectors contributing significantly to the national economy.

The adoption of the PPnBM policy resulted in a large rise which has been proven by the domestic sales enhancement of 68% in 2021. In addition, with sales results in March 2022, the accomplishment of the first quarter of 2022, which totaled 263,810 units, increased by 41.1% compared to the same period year on year.

“The results of car sales in March, which reached more than 98 thousand units and managed to meet accomplishment statistics under normal circumstances, are the consequence of the government’s assistance and facility. We express our gratitude to the Ministry of Industry, in particular, for its full direction and support to the Indonesian automotive industry through the Sales Tax on Luxury Goods relaxation policy, which is the main reason for the next extraordinary increase in sales figures recorded in the first quarter of this year,” said Yohannes Nangoi, General Chair of GAIKINDO.

According to GAIKINDO, the outstanding vehicle sales in March is inseparable from the encouragement provided by the staging of the next automotive show from GAIKINDO that focuses on driving sales, Jakarta Auto Week (JAW), which will take place from March 12-21, 2022.

“The inaugural operation of JAW has recorded an excellent transaction accomplishment and succeeded in reaching its aim of being able to contribute to the sales success of the automobile sector, which in March achieved amazing results,” Nangoi said in a statement.

He also said that GAIKINDO and its members made the right decision to give a boost to sales numbers by organizing exhibits, and this has been proven to be very beneficial.

The Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia gave a very positive response to the results of recording vehicle sales in March 2022. The Ministry of Industry hopes that GAIKINDO and the Indonesian automotive industry can continue to maintain and improve this excellent achievement by providing encouragement, such as holding the JAW exhibition. The great support comes from the Ministry of Industry, toward the re-organizing of JAW in order to contribute to Indonesian automotive industry, further, enhances GAIKINDO’s spirit to organize JAW in the years to come,” concluded Nangoi.
