Heaptalk, Jakarta — PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia (IAMI) showcased the Isuzu ELF Mobile EV Charger Concept Astra Otopower at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024.
This feature is expected to play a significant role in the electric vehicle ecosystem and help boost the adoption of electric cars in Indonesia. The Japan-automotive manufacturer also displayed its Isuzu Elf EV in GIIAS 2024 to demonstrate its support to the Government goals in sustainability.
The Isuzu ELF Mobile EV Charger Concept Astra Otopower is an innovation by Isuzu and PT Astra Otoparts Tbk (Astra Otoparts), which already has a battery-based electric vehicle charging network (KBLBB), Astra Otopower. In collaboration with Astra Group, they developed the Isuzu ELF Mobile EV Charger Concept Astra Otopower, which is positioned as a mobile charging station.
This collaboration is expected to solve the range anxiety problems of electric vehicle owners. The concept can be relied upon in emergency situations. This strategy is expected to boost public interest in switching to electric vehicles, as envisioned by the government.
Yusak Kristian, President Director of PT IAMI, said, “PT IAMI continually supports government programs with various innovations in mobility. This time, together with Astra Otoparts, which is part of the Astra Group, and Delima Mandiri coachbuilder, we present the latest innovation, the Isuzu ELF Mobile EV Charger Concept Astra Otopower, ready to support electric vehicle mobility in the country. The presence of the Isuzu ELF Mobile EV Charger Concept Astra Otopower at GIIAS 2024 is expected to solve the still limited presence of EV charging stations and make it easier for electric vehicle consumers to reach charging stations to charge their batteries.”
This innovation utilizes the Isuzu ELF NLR, which is known for its functionality and can be used for various needs. This truck chassis has a length of 4,700 mm, a width of 1,835 mm, a height of 2,205 mm, a wheelbase of 2,490 mm, and can carry a load of up to 3,260 kg. The charger used is owned by Astra Otoparts, the provider of electric vehicle charging machines. Astra Otoparts offers a 150KW charger that can be used to charge various electric vehicles with DC current.
“Isuzu ELF Mobile EV Charger Concept Astra Otopower will be operated to support the electric vehicle ecosystem in the future, especially when EV owners face urgent situations with their vehicle’s battery capacity. The presence and operation of the Isuzu ELF Mobile EV Charger Concept Astra Otopower will adapt to the number and presence of electric vehicles and provide a solution for electric vehicles in urgent need of electric power supply,” concluded Martogi Siahaan, Director of Astra Otoparts.
