Indonesia’s journey towards high-quality tourism

Heaptalk, Jakarta – To encourage the development of a sustainable tourism industry, Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA with Traveloka) held a discussion with a theme Road to International Quality Tourism Conference.

A conference that unify government institutions, academic experts, think tank and LSM discussed the plan for Indonesia’s tourism development in the future.

On Tuesday (27/02) in Jakarta, the Leader of Indonesian E-commerce Association, Bima Laga stated, “The excellent quality of tourism industry becomes the main goal of this strategical development. One of the main focuses are the development of mass tourism and climate change. Indonesia’s government has put these issues in the National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN 2025‐2029).”

To stress this matter, Bima also emphasized commitment from the digital industries to contribute in succeeding the program. “As digital industry actors are ready to support and implement system that able to uphold the achieved quality tourism growth in Indonesia,” said Bima.

However, Kemenparekraf stated that the government is also committed to not only enhancing Indonesia’s tourism, but also having a high standard for all sectors. “We welcome all collaborations and communications with digital industries and tourism to ensure the four pillar namely basic infrastructures, sustainability, uniqueness, and high-quality can be fulfilled and implemented,” said Deputy for Tourism and Creative Economy Coordination, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Odo Manuhutu.

Odo continued, quality tourism will alter practices according to new norms and standards. “Government through BBWI strive to attracting locals, boosting tourism resilience. The 80% tourism target will be from domestic tourists.”

Moreover, one of digital contributors, Traveloka, stressed that their participation toward this event is the commitment to build Indonesia’s tourism align with their vision in setting standard in Quality Tourism for a more sustainable and inclusive travel ecosystem.

Co-Founder Traveloka, Albert also conveyed, “With the evolution of tourism industry, we believe that digitalization will uphold a more sustainable tourism industry development.”

“Through digital platform, Traveloka is able to not only giving various offers but also helping consumer to make decisions for their chosen trip,” he concluded.
