Belida Extension Project operated by Medco E&P consists of Malong offshore platform and Belida North East located in Natuna Sea Block B, Riau Islands.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — Medco E&P Natuna, a production-sharing contractor of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), has completed the Belida Extension Project that is going onstream at the end of 2022.
The onstream activity is running after the completion of the production facility start-up at the Malong offshore platform on December 18, 2022, followed by the Belida North East on December 25, 2022. The project located in the Natuna Sea Block B working area, Riau Islands Province, will contribute to national gas production of 30 million cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).
Deputy of Exploitation at SKK Migas Wahju Wibowo expressed his appreciation for the completion of the Belida Extension Project. He said this success is a manifestation of Medco E&P Natuna’s hard work and its collaboration with SKK Migas in efforts to increase national gas production.
“SKK Migas hopes that all production-sharing contractors will continue the efforts in developing new oil and gas fields to boost national oil and gas production sustainably, as a concrete step towards realizing the shared vision of 1 million barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 12 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD) in 2030,” said Wahju in Jakarta (28/12).
Wahju explained that the investment value of the Belida Extension Project reached US$77.5 million, equivalent to Rp1.2 trillion. The project will be the first field to produce the Intra Muda layer in Natuna.
Further, he added, “Apart from that, it is also the first field that has succeeded in producing ahead of other fields which had received approval earlier on the first plan of development in producing the Intra Muda layer.”
Meanwhile, President Director of Medco E&P Ronald Gunawan delivered that the Belida Extension Project is part of the Malong and Belida North East field development projects. He expected that his party will work hard to raise production both from offshore and onshore fields.
“The company is also grateful for the support from SKK Migas and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, as well as other stakeholders in running this project smoothly,” concluded Ronald.
