Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Provincial Government of Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) has successfully maintained the stability of inflation figures after Eid al-Fitr 1445H until the end of April 2023. As per the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data released on Thursday (05/02), this achievement is evident in Southeast Sulawesi’s inflation rate, which remained stable at 2.93% year on year, below the national inflation rate of 3.00%.

“Thank God, our inflation is relatively stable below the national inflation rate. If ranked from the lowest inflation rate, Southeast Sulawesi Province is ranked 13th out of 38 provinces. The highest inflation was recorded in Gorontalo Province at 4.65%,” said Acting Governor of Southeast Sulawesi Andap Budhi Revianto.

Furthermore, Baubau City had the highest inflation rate while Kolaka Regency had the lowest. Andap said, “Baubau City’s inflation rate is 3.21%, followed by Kendari City’s 3.09%, Konawe Regency’s 2.58%, and the lowest is Kolaka Regency’s 2.45%.”

In more detail, several commodities contribute to Southeast Sulawesi inflation, including rice at 0.90%, machine-made kretek cigarettes at 0.42%, air force at 0.24%, and gold jewelry at 0.15%. “The commodities that reduce the rate of inflation in our region in Southeast Sulawesi are flying fish with a deflation contribution of 0.12%, milkfish/bolu 0.08%, and mackerel with a contribution of 0.07%,” he explained.

Aligned with year-on-year inflation, Southeast Sulawesi’s monthly inflation (MoM) is also stable at 0.47%. Based on historical price developments during Eid al-Fitr in the last four years, Southeast Sulawesi has always experienced MoM inflation. This controlled inflation condition places Southeast Sulawesi in 26th position when viewed from the highest inflation ranking. However, according to the lowest inflation ranking, Southeast Sulawesi is ranked 13th out of 38 provinces assessed for inflation nationally.

“I appreciate and express my gratitude to the TPID of Southeast Sulawesi Province and the parties who have contributed to maintaining inflation stability in Southeast Sulawesi during the celebration of Idul Fitri 1445 H,” said Andap.

The Acting Governor also instructed the TPID of Southeast Sulawesi Province, the Regent/Mayor, and the Head of the Regional Apparatus to take intervention steps to maintain price stability in Southeast Sulawesi. “TPID, as well as Regents/Mayors and Heads of Regional Apparatus, even though our inflation rate is still within the control range of 1.5% to 3.5%, I need to emphasize the importance of intervention steps, remaining alert and implementing anticipatory steps to maintain price stability in Southeast Sulawesi,” concluded Andap.
