Heaptalk, Jakarta — On Monday (07/29), President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially began working in the new capital, IKN.
M. Yusuf Permana, Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media at the Presidential Secretariat, on Monday (07/29), said, “This morning, the President will receive guests, hold an audience, and have meetings in the President’s office at the Presidential Office in IKN.”
Yusuf mentioned that one of the President’s agenda items is a meeting with the Nusantara Capital Authority staff. The President will be accompanied by State Secretary Minister Pratikno, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), and Acting Head of Nusantara Capital Authority Basuki Hadimuljono. “He will also receive the East Kalimantan regional leadership communication forum (Forkompinda),” he explained.
President Jokowi said he was still working softly on the first day at IKN. Construction at the Presidential Office in IKN is ongoing, and thousands of workers are completing the final stages of the building. Therefore, the President mentioned that he is still working softly since many workers are in the Presidential Office area at IKN.
The workers often pause their work when the President inspects the area due to security protocols from the Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres). On the other hand, he admitted that he did not want to disturb the workers. “When I go there, I pass by working people, and everyone stops. That’s the Paspampres protocol. I pass by the place where they work. My intention is for them to continue working. I only pass by, but it’s impossible,” the President described the current situation around the Presidential Office.
