Heaptalk, Jakarta — Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas stated that there is no specific target or deadline for issuing a Presidential Decree (Keppres) regarding the relocation of Indonesia’s capital from Jakarta to the new Nusantara Capital (IKN). The Ministry will move to IKN once the Parliament and Supreme Court Building are completed.
“The President has clearly committed to completing the capital relocation. Regarding the deadline, President Prabowo wants to ensure that all basic infrastructure—legislative, executive, and judiciary—is in place. That’s the focus,” Supratman said after a plenary meeting on approving the National Legislative Program (Prolegnas) at the MPR/DPR/DPD RI Building in Senayan, Jakarta.
The Gerindra Party politician added that Prabowo is eager to expedite the construction of the MPR/DPR/DPD RI buildings in IKN. He also emphasized that Prabowo has instructed the timely completion of the Supreme Court (MA) and Constitutional Court (MK) buildings in IKN.
Supratman emphasized that there are no issues with the Presidential Decree for IKN. He explained that Prabowo is carefully considering the readiness of office facilities and residential accommodations for government officials relocating to IKN.
“The principle is not about setting a fixed target date. The government will assess when these three institutions can start operating from IKN, including their housing arrangements,” he said. Regarding the relocation of civil servants to IKN, Supratman mentioned that President Prabowo has directed it to commence in 2025.
