Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, visited the GWM Discovery Hub at GIIAS 2024. He appreciated the GWM Discovery Hub’s presence in Hall 3A. The hub’s main goal is to strengthen the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) ecosystem in Indonesia through its lineup of mass premium products.
Airlangga also commended the new Haval Jolion HEV and Tank 300 HEV, as well as the newly launched Haval H6 HEV and Tank 500 HEV, for bolstering the government’s measures to address the green economy in Indonesia.
“Most importantly, the number of EV preferences is increasing with its affordable prices. This matter demonstrated a mature policy, with outstanding public responses,” Airlangga affirmed.
Possessing abundant critical mineral reserves, such as nickel, a key material in lithium-ion batteries, he claimed that the archipelago has tremendous potential worldwide to become an electric vehicle (EV) hub. For this reason, Airlangga said the government has arranged several incentives to increase the production and sales of electric vehicle products.
As is known, the Indonesian government has issued multiple incentives to expedite the investment and adoption of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) in the country, including the PPnBM incentive for four-wheeled BEVs. The Minister also mentioned that incentives for hybrid cars are being prepared.
Concluding his statement, Airlangga delivered his gratitude for the presence of the GIIAS 2024 expo. Through this biggest automotive expo, he looks forward to Indonesia’s automotive sector demonstrating superior products and innovating with the newest technology. GIIAS also features vehicles with up to 80% local content.
