Heaptalk, Jakarta — East Kutai Regency Government held a ceremony to commemorate the Youth Pledge Day which took place at the East Kutai Regent’s Office Field, North Sangatta. ‘Together to Advance Indonesia’ is the theme adopted in the Youth Pledge commemoration 2023.

According to Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman when he was the ceremony inspector, this theme was appropriate since it could raise the motivation of the younger generation to continue moving forward towards a Golden Indonesia 2045. He said, “The Youth Pledge is a golden momentum to work together to advance Indonesia.”

The agenda reminds the Indonesians about the struggle of all youth elements to achieve independence. “Youth at that time spread the spirit of patriotism and succeeded in uniting a national vision that gave birth to a commitment to independence,” said Ardiansyah.

This struggle, according to Ardiansyah, must be continued by the younger generation, especially in East Kutai, one of which is by building collective optimism to embody Indonesia’s hope of becoming respectable in the eyes of other nations in the world.

Building optimism toward a Golden Indonesia 2045

“Indeed, currently, the Indonesians, especially the central government, are focused on solving the issues of corruption, poverty, unemployment, drugs, pornography, hoaxes, and a number of other issues. However, that is not a reason for young people to stop and be pessimistic about Indonesia’s future,” he explained.

He further hoped that the youth pledge would become the spirit of the younger generation’s struggle in facing mass pessimism. He emphasized, “In this space, every young generation is required to remain critical in overseeing the journey thereby the movement to build optimism towards a developed nation can continue to be carried out.”

In addition, Ardiansyah also encouraged that the demographic bonus which has been occurring since 2021 and reached its peak in 2030 must be utilized properly to achieve a Golden Indonesia 2045. In his closing remarks, he asked the youth to have a vision and goals that would become projections for Indonesia in the future. (Translated by Sinta)
