Technical guidance on capacity building for village heads is carried out for five days on June 19-23, 2023 in Kuta, Bali with 139 participants.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Government of East Kutai Regency through the Community and Village Empowerment Department (DPMDes) organized technical guidance on capacity building for village heads for five days on June 19-23, 2023 at B Hotel Kuta Bali. Participants consisted of 139 village heads throughout East Kutai.
In his opening remarks, Vice Regent Kasmidi Bulang said that village heads are managers whose job is to provide services by prioritizing obligations rather than rights as leaders in the village.
According to Kasmidi, in the future, the tasks of the village government will become increasingly difficult and complex aligned with the dynamics of society. In addition, development also encourages the emergence of new demands, both based on interests and needs. “Therefore, the village heads and village officials are required to work hard and earnestly in coordinating these diverse demands,” said Kasmidi.
In carrying out village governance, the village head is required to be more visionary, creative, and innovative to bring better changes to the progress of the village. This is in accordance with the expectations of the residents during the election as a form of trust in the elected candidate.
In addition, village governments also receive funds from various sources that they have to manage. Kasmidi hopes that the village head as the holder of financial management authority can obtain more village original income (PADes) by exploring the existing potential.
He added, “By exploring sources of village original income, independent village autonomy can be embodied as it is no longer dependent on aid funds. In addition, villages can plan, implement and evaluate their own development budget and results.”
Meanwhile, the Head of the East Kutai Community and Village Empowerment Department, Yuriansyah, hopes that this activity can produce village heads who are ready to carry out their duties and obligations in running the wheels of the village government in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
“Village heads are expected to develop and improve their abilities to become leaders who adapt quickly to changes, are creative and innovative, are able to manage emotions, face risks, and focus on goals,” concluded Yuriansyah.
