A digital literacy center will be built in East Kutai in collaboration with PT Enam Kubuku Indonesia as a partner for the National Library.

Heaptalk, Jakarta — The government of East Kutai Regency is working on several programs to accelerate digital transformation and equal distribution of information and communication technology facilities, one of which is through the construction of a digital literacy center initiated by the Department of Communication and Informatics, Statistics and Encryption (Diskominfo Staper).

To realize the plan, the Department is collaborating with PT Enam Kubuku Indonesia as a partner for the National Library. This company has been engaged in literacy, especially digital libraries since 2016.

During the presentation of the plans for the digital literacy center, the Head of East Kutai Diskominfo, Ery Mulyadi, said that based on President Joko Widodo’s directives, digital transformation during the Covid-19 pandemic and post-pandemic period will be structurally sustainable. Activities that were previously carried out face to face or physical contact, for instance, work, transactions, and study, have shifted to online platforms using the internet network which is currently widely used by the community.

“For this reason, the President hopes that all sectors including the government must immediately anticipate, prepare, and carefully plan breakthroughs to accelerate digital transformation,” said Ery.

Further, Ery conveyed several directions for accelerating digital transformation in Indonesia delivered by Joko Widodo, including expanding access and improving digital infrastructure. Ery added, “Preparing a digital development roadmap in strategic sectors both within government and public services, including the education, social, health, and industrial sectors.”

In addition, preparing digitally talented human resources is also an essential part of accelerating digital transformation. The President also asked for regulations governing digital transformation financing schemes as soon as possible.
