Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai Govt has allocated a budget of Rp300 billion which equals to US$19.15 million (US$1 equals Rp15,669) for the infrastructure development of neighborhood roads and drainage. Through the Department of Housing and Settlement Areas (Perkim), this program will be implemented in 18 sub-districts across the regency.
Head of the Housing and Settlement Areas Department Ahmad Lip Makruf said, “This year we are working on multiple infrastructure development programs, one of which is 1,500 development packages allocated on the initial version of the regional revenue and expenditure budget (APBD) 2022 and its revised version. The amount is Rp300 billion for 18 sub-districts and we are currently realizing it.”
The Department is currently accelerating the projects since there are several other programs to be realized as well. Moreover, projects can take longer when bad weather occurs. Nevertheless, Ahmad is optimistic that the construction of neighborhood roads and drainage can be completed on time.
“We remain optimistic that this project can be realized this year. This neighborhood roads and drainage development will be carried out every year,” said Ahmad.
Further, Ahmad encouraged the community to participate in development. The community can propose development if they find alleys or neighborhood roads need to be improved. They can submit proposals to the village, sub-district, or regency government. This neighborhood road and drainage management program is a manifestation of the regency’s vision, namely Managing Prosperous East Kutai for All.
“If the community has proposals, please submit them to the village, sub-district, or Housing and Settlement Areas Department. We will allocate them in next year’s budget,” said Ahmad in his closing statement.
