The forest and land fire socialization was attended by 50 participants consisting of representatives of regional apparatus organizations and community organizations in East Kutai.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai Regency Government through the Forestry Department (Dishut) held socialization on forest and land fire prevention at Pelangi Room 2, Royal Victoria Hotel, Sangatta (06/15).
This agenda was attended by 50 participants consisting of representatives of regional apparatus organizations and community organizations in East Kutai. The socialization carried the theme “The shared spirit places prevention as a priority”.
Representing the Head of the East Kutai Forestry Department, Head of the Production Forest Management Unit (KPHP) of Bengalon District, Nasrudin Alamsyah said that forest and land fires are a common problem that must be addressed immediately. This disaster is not only the responsibility of the government but also the community.
Nasrudin said, “In carrying out prevention and control of forest and land fires, area stakeholders or permit holders for forestry, plantation, and mining must have human resources, facilities, and infrastructure for forest and land fires.”
In addition to socialization, one form of the government’s seriousness in preventing and overcoming forest and land fires is by establishing a task force for controlling forest and land fires at both the central and district levels.
Accordingly, each holder of a forest and land area permit is required to form a forest and land fire control brigade (Brigdal Karhutla). Apart from that, they also have to involve volunteers from the community in forming the Fire Care Community (MPA) and Fire Care Farmers Group (KTPA) organizations.
“Success in preventing and overcoming forest and land fires can only be accomplished through good, close, and solid coordination and cooperation,” concluded Nasrudin.
