Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai Education and Culture Department (Disdikbud) provided technical guidance on archive management for two days on June 26-27, 2023, which took place in the Damar Room, Multipurpose Building, Bukit Pelangi Sangatta.
This activity was attended by 25 participants consisting of 18 regional coordinators in 18 districts, six representatives from the Education and Culture Department, and one representative from the non-formal education unit of learning activity studios. The speakers presented were from the East Kutai Library and Archives Department, namely Yayuk Eka Sari and Anjar Rahmawati.
Commencing the activity, Secretary of the East Kutai Education and Culture Department Irma Yuwinda said that the objective of this technical guidance was to increase participants’ understanding of archives, including all the concepts of manuscript layout and archival management. “In addition, all participants are expected to implement the archival knowledge within the scope of the East Kutai Education and Culture Department,” said Irma.
These regional coordinators will later act as an extension to convey the concept of clustering archive management, both open and excluded documents. Apart from that, this archival knowledge is beneficial not only within the scope of the Education and Culture Department but also in all departments.
In the future, Irma hopes that digitizing archives can be implemented while keeping the previous archives. She voiced, “This matter will also be addressed in stages, moreover the archives of the Education and Culture Department are numerous and varied.”
According to Yayuk Eka Sari, who serves as the Head of the Archives Development and Supervision Division, at the East Kutai Library and Archives Department, good archivist skills will be valuable for oneself and for departments. She uttered, “I hope the archiving training for this regional coordinator can be extended to schools, including elementary and junior high schools.”
Further, Yayuk expects that the cooperation between the Education and Culture Department and the Library and Archives Department will continue. “We really appreciate this cooperation as our party is trusted to provide material related to archives. As we know, archives are essential documents as a form of accountability, particularly for budgets that have been implemented,” she concluded.
