Accounting training for cooperative managers aims to increase the capacity of cooperative managers as one of the efforts to improve the quality of cooperatives.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Government of East Kutai Regency through the Cooperatives and SMEs Department conducted accounting training batch III for three days on June 23-25, 2023, at Teras Belad Café and Resto, Sangatta-Bontang Shaft Road, South Sangatta.
Participants consisted of 30 cooperative managers in Muara Bengkal District. This training aims to increase the capacity of cooperative managers as one of the efforts to improve the quality of cooperatives in East Kutai.
The speakers presented were representatives from the Integrated Business Service Center (PLUT) of East Kalimantan Province; Tax Service, Counseling and Consultation Office (KP2KP) Sangatta; and Invelli Solusindo Jakarta.
In his opening remarks, East Kutai Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman said that cooperatives are one of the organizations that aim to achieve economic independence through multiple business activities carried out by all members. Ardiansyah said, “The father of Indonesian Cooperatives and other national leaders have long thought about how to achieve prosperity without dependence on others, one of which is through cooperatives.”
Further, he asked the Cooperatives and SMEs Department to continue to pay attention to and maximize all the capabilities of existing cooperatives. This is to increase the competitiveness and economy of the community, particularly cooperative members. “How can cooperatives be run in a healthy manner, one of which is by providing training to increase management’s understanding of financial management and business strategies,” Ardiansyah added.
The remaining active cooperatives are 325 units by 2023
Meanwhile, the Head of the East Kutai Cooperatives and SMEs Department Darsafani said that until 2023, his party recorded 49 cooperatives in Muara Bengkal District, both partnering with companies or running businesses independently. “Of these, there are only 19 cooperatives. This is what we will encourage and facilitate regarding the problems encountered to get them back into operation,” he said.
In this regard, his party will evaluate all cooperatives which are known to number 1,209 units spread across many districts in East Kutai by 2022. Of these, only 655 cooperative units are in the active category. In 2023, active cooperatives decrease to only 325 units.
“The remaining 879 units have been declared inactive and we will conduct training. But if it can’t be fixed, we will submit it to the central government to be suspended or terminated,” concluded Darsafani.
