IndoBisa registration is held from September 22 to October 3, targeting 250 startups to participate in e-courses, online boot camps, and pitching with VCs.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in collaboration with Pijar Foundation launched the Indonesia Business Startup Matchmaking (IndoBisa) platform at the Ministry’s Weekly Brief event at Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta (09/25).
IndoBisa is present as a hub that brings together startups and venture capital to boost the potential for providing capital and encourage creative economic growth under the auspices of working group IV of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. A series of activities that will be held include e-courses, online boot camps in the form of training and mentoring, sharing sessions, as well as one-on-one meetings with venture capital.
In more detail, the registration is held from September 22 to October 3, 2023, targeting 250 startups. Of this number, 100 selected startups will take part in the e-course. Further, 55 startups will join one-on-one pitching with venture capital. The amount of funding a startup can obtain depends on proposals approved by venture capital.
According to the Director of Financing Access at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Anggara Hayun Anujuprana, unlike other matchmaking programs that end after bringing together startups and venture capital, IndoBisa wants to build a sustainable startup ecosystem.
“The added value that we have is that after bringing together startups with venture capital, we do not want to stop here. We want to build a sustainable startup ecosystem by collaborating with the Pijar Foundation. After matchmaking, we will hold the next program, namely thematic networking and speed networking,” Hayun said during the Weekly Brief in Jakarta (09/25).
He further added that the two upcoming programs, spanning thematic networking and speed networking, are expected to be implemented in 2024. The Ministry and Pijar will also carry out monitoring and evaluation of startups to ensure this program is sustainable, primarily regarding capital distribution.
Indonesia had 2,346 startups in 2022
Meanwhile, Tourism and Creative Economy Senior Advisor at the Ministry Nia Niscaya said that Indonesia was recorded as having 2,346 startups in 2022 based on the startup ranking report by Katadata. She voiced, “This could be proof that Indonesia has a big opportunity to realize digital economic independence compared to other countries in Southeast Asia. Apart from that, Indonesia is also experiencing more rapid digital economic growth.”
Responding to this, Innovation Director of Pijar Foundation Cynthia Krisanti emphasized that her party wants to bring Indonesia to embody the vision of a Golden Indonesia in 2045 through the development of innovation and startup growth.
“In this collaboration, we present everything we have in the Pijar Foundation network, especially investors from venture capital and mentors from startups who have experience in the creative economy sector to provide learning modules and most importantly prepare these startups in the creative economy to raise funds from venture capital,” she concluded.
