Heaptalk, Jakarta — The National Border Management Agency (BNPP) conducted the 2023 Border Area Development Coordination Meeting in Jakarta, opened by BNPP’s deputy for border area infrastructure management, Jeffry Apoly Rahawarin.

In the agenda, Jeffry emphasized that BNPP continues to build synergy and harmony of communication with 27 ministries and institutions incorporated in BNPP, together with the Regional Border Management Agency (BPPD) in 18 provinces and 54 regencies/cities. For this reason, his party will continue to improve communication with other Ministries and Institutions to manage state borders, focusing on priority national development targets.

“We aim to control programs and activities, both the completed and ongoing programs and the delayed agendas due to several obstacles this year.”

In 2023, Indonesia’s central government allocated a budget of Rp7,717 trillion, with a realized budget of Rp4,114 trillion until December 2023. For this reason, BNPP has improved essential social services and the community economy based on superior sectors by utilizing the potential of local resources with the support of extended strategic infrastructure, such as parallel border roads, sea highways, airports, and ports/piers.

BNPP has also transformed the homepage of Indonesia with the support of infrastructure for providing cross-border services, marked by the construction of 13 integrated cross-border posts (PLBN), whereby around 8 PLBN have been entirely operated and 5 coming to PLBN.

Besides, the Head of the Planning and Cooperation Bureau at BNPP, Farida Kurnianingrum, explained that the aim of holding this meeting was to ensure increased effectiveness and accelerate the development of state borders in an integrated manner in strengthening the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.

To support the achievement of BWN-KP management priority targets, Farida hopes for funding support in the Government Work Plan (RKP), which remains focused on managing national borders, cross-border crossings, border area development, and a sustainable state border governance system.
