Heaptalk, Jakarta – After a shocking announcement from the former Nusantara Capital (IKN) Authority Head of Bambang Susanto about his resignation, the IKN establishment has been hit by unpleasant issues oftentimes.
Recently, the Indonesian government, through its official Youtube, announced to halt the construction of IKN starting from August 10, 2024. According to Task Force of IKN Infrastructure, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Danis Sumadilaga, this measure will be conducted to prepare a ceremony for the national Independence Day on 17 August.
“We announce that all construction activities will be halted one week ahead of the ceremony. Although there is minor work, the truck mobilization and other activities will be stopped,” stated Danis.
Although IKN construction activity will be halted temporarily, the workers will stay as the project will normally continue after the ceremony.
Apart from this announcement, the President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo recently mentioned that his plan to work in IKN is pending. He questioned about the preparation of basic facilities there, such as electricity and clean water.
According to the President, Presidential Decision (Keppres) to move the capital to IKN cannot be ensured. Even he mentioned that the Presidential Decree maybe can be issued after the inauguration of Indonesia’s new president on October.
“Perceiving this current condition, I cannot issue the presidential decree; maybe it can be released after Prabowo is inaugurated. I don’t want to force this because the result will be poor,” stated Jokowi.
