Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Indonesia Fashion Chamber (IFC), in collaboration with Gemalindo Kreasi Indonesia, held Spotlight Indonesia 2024 from December 12 to 15 at the Assembly Hall, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). During the four-day event, 6,700 visitors made transactions worth over Rp2 billion, approximately US$123,445 (US$1 equals Rp16,201).

Campaigning for inclusivity and sustainability while preserving adaptive culture, the event showcased works from more than 100 Indonesian designers and brands, including formal, casual/street, men’s, and modest wear. The cultural fashion event consisted of fashion shows and exhibitions, competitions, workshops, talk shows, and fashion installations. All these activities aimed to bring together and facilitate collaboration between designers, artisans, and fashion enthusiasts.

With the theme of Cultural Fusion, Spotlight Indonesia is expected to highlight promoting Indonesia as a global destination for ready-to-wear fashion products based on sustainability, emphasizing traditional textiles, local culture, resources, and handmade craftsmanship. Lenny Agustin, National Chair of the Indonesian Fashion Chamber (IFC), said this year’s event differed from previous years in that it took place at JCC to accommodate fashion players’ growing and diverse enthusiasm.

Celebrating IFC’s 9th anniversary

“Spotlight always highlights local textiles and culture, enabling it to be a showcase and meeting place for the Indonesian fashion industry from upstream to downstream. It is expected to bring out the strength of the Indonesian culture-based industry, which will create an identity for proud Indonesian-made fashion products,” Lenny said in her opening remarks at Spotlight Indonesia 2024.

Approximately 100 booths were present, and around 112 fashion brands participated in the four-day event. Irvan Mahidin Sukamto, Chief Director of Gemalindo Kreasi Indonesia, stated, “We are very grateful for the active participation of all parties involved, including sponsors, designers, industry players, government agencies, guests, and enthusiastic visitors.”

To appreciate designers and brands that consistently pursue sustainable fashion, Spotlight Indonesia held a competition that allowed selected participants to showcase their work in a fashion show. The curated results crowned House of Inang the Best Sustainable Brand of Spotlight Indonesia 2024.

Spotlight Indonesia annually celebrates the diversity of Indonesian fashion, culminating in a series of IFC activities and a celebration of IFC’s 9th anniversary. “With this increase in age, it is certainly hoped that IFC can be more solid and contribute more to the development of the fashion industry ecosystem in the country, including realizing a shared ideal, making Indonesia one of the global fashion centers,” Lenny concluded.
