Heaptalk, Jakarta – Music, Fashion Event which adopts theme ‘80s and ‘90s era Lintas Melawai is presented in Melawai area, Blok M, Jakarta starting from July 28th to 30th July, 2023. According to Helmy Yahya, one of the event’s initiators, this festival targets to bring back the glory of Blok M Melawai area as a popular place for people to hang out, as well as to revive the economy of private sectors around the area.
“Perceiving from the economic standpoint, we (the artists, designers, and the promotor) want to uplift the popularity of this area, we would like to revive the glory of this area considering its contribution (to Indonesia’s MICE sector), many well-known musicians and actors starting their career here,” stated Helmy during Lintas Melawai press conference (07/29).
Helmy further explained the background of this event, “We see that ’80s and ‘90s are the peaks of the entertainment era. And at that time, Blok M Melawai was a very popular place to hang out and show off their style, which was known as Lintas Melawai.”
The popularity of the place even inspired Helmy to create a screenplay entitled Bakal Lokasi Mejeng Blok M (translated: place to show off your style). This film was directed by Edward Pesta Sirait and involved one of ‘90s best actresses, Paramitha Rusady. Several scenes also were shot directly at Blok M.
Moreover, Helmy delivered that this event aims to deliver experience feelings of nostalgia while promoting the potency of arts, culture, and community activities around the area.
To attract people, this event features multiple artists, including Swara Maharddhika Alumni, Denny Malik Entertainment, Libels, Three Ladies, Iwan Keplek (DJ), Vina Panduwinata, Cockpit Band, Sandro Tobing, Mus Mujiono, Trie Utami, Otti Jamalus House Music, Groovebox Story Ft.Melly Manuhutu, Story Audiensi Band & Ruth Sahanaya.
Lintas Melawai also presents famous fashion designers such as Corrie Kastubi, Widhi Budimulia, Ai Syarif 1965, Suzan Zhuang, Yon Yulizar, Nita Seno Adji, Dimas Mahendra and Shannelom Yuma, Ramar, Keke Marpaung, Ichwan Thoha, Anastasia Inne Adhe, Erdan, Rudy Chandra, Rasyid Salim, Abee By Ariy Arka, Ida Giriz, Coenrad By Kunce, Priya By Dana, Kain Pinawetengan, Yongky Batik Tradisional, which was presented by Look Academy.
In addition to music and fashion, the event also presented a bazaar that showcased multiple products and a parade that involved automotive communities.
As additional information, the occasion was initiated by well-known Indonesian politician and producer Helmi Yahya and a notable artist Denny Malik.
