Heaptalk, Jakarta — Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2023 is ready to be held on October 20—22 2022 taking place at Indonesia Convention Exhibition Bumi Serpong Damai (ICE BSD), Tangerang, Banten in conjunction with Trade Expo Indonesia.
JMFW is an initiative of the Ministry of Trade and Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) as stated in the Decree of the Minister of Trade No. 123 of 2022 concerning the Establishment of a Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of Indonesian Muslim fashion.
The event will feature a fashion parade and exhibition of Muslim fashion products from around a hundred well-known Indonesian brands. Besides, JMFW 2023 will also be enlivened by the showcase of textile products, cosmetics, and accessories as an important part of the halal product ecosystem.
In addition, the organizing committee also will hold business matching on the sidelines of the event. National Muslim fashion business actors can arrange meetings with buyers, both local and overseas, who are interested in conducting business negotiations. Previously the Ministry and Kadin have held a series of events towards JMFW 2023 from April-September 2022, spanning seminars and curation as well as incubation and promotion.
Didi Sumedi Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade delivered that the activity is one of the efforts to dominate the world Muslim fashion market as Indonesia’s Muslim fashion sector ranked third globally. “Our population allows us to be at least a buffer or even trendsetter globally since our Muslim population is one of the largest in the world,” said Didi during a virtual influencers and media gathering (04/10).
Didi appreciates the participation of influencers and media representatives who also promote JMFW 2023. According to him, the collaboration of all elements including business players, influencers, and the media, can help to overcome the current global crisis. The spirit of collaboration is shown in the theme of the G20 Presidency Recover Together, Recover Stronger.
Miftah Farid Director of Exports Development of Creative Services and Products at the Ministry of Trade emphasized that the approach of JMFW is to develop an ecosystem aiming to promote Indonesian Muslim fashion. He added, “This event also aims to increase the competitiveness of Indonesian Muslim fashion in the international market and to make Indonesia the center of world Muslim fashion.”
Likewise, Anne Patricia a representative of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry also said that Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world. Therefore, she expected that stakeholders in the Muslim fashion industry can collaborate to realize Indonesia as a trendsetter and dominates the Muslim fashion market in the world.
Several stakeholders attended the virtual gathering, including the National Chairman of Indonesian Fashion Chamber Ali Charisma, Head of Wardah Skincare Tiara Putri, and Marketing Manager at Uniqlo Indonesia Lisqia Lalantika. Some influencers, owners of Muslim fashion brands, and designers also joined the virtual gathering, spanning Lulu El Hasbu, Haykal Kamil, Istafiana Candarini, and Brilianto.
JMFW 2023 is supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Indonesian Fashion Chamber, the Indonesian Textile Association (API), the Association of Indonesian Cosmetics Companies (Perkosmi), the Association of Indonesian Cosmetics Companies and Associations (PPA Kosmetika), as well as Islamic Fashion Institute (IFI).
The event is also collaborating with Uniqlo as a sponsoring partner, Wardah and Mustika Ratu as the official makeup artist, and BCA Syariah as a banking partner. In addition, this event was sponsored by Asia Pacific Rayon (APR), Sinarmas Land, Daliatex, Gistex, and UBS, as well as Nestle and YOUC1000.
