Heaptalk, Jakarta — The third edition of the Indonesia Electric Motor Show (IEMS) 2022 has been officially organized from September 28th to 30th, 2022, in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta.
The inauguration of this automotive exhibition was attended by governments representatives, covering the Research Professor of Electrochemical Process Technology of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), who also served as the IEMS initiator, Eniya Listiani Dewi, Deputy for Development Policy of BRIN, Mego Pinandito, and Representative of Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Sripeni Inten Cahyani.
During the opening remarks, the IEMS initiator, Eniya Listiani, conveyed her great appreciation to the government for supporting the Electric Vehicle industry development in Indonesia, from developing numerous EV vehicle products to providing charging stations in multiple locations.
“The growth of EV ecosystem can be noticed by plenty of innovation and creativity of the local industry player with a high enthusiasm to introduce their electrical products, making the automotive manufacturers also encountered an equal expectation about adopting electric vehicles. Likewise, the government’s new regulation for realizing the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicles (KBLBB) ecosystem can also accelerate EV utilization around the society,” added Eniya.
On the same occasion, Indonesia’s Ministry of ESDM Representative, Sripeni Inten, revealed that the number of electric vehicles remains diminutive, namely approximately 21,000 units in July 2022. She perceived this low number is caused by its price that is higher than fuel-based vehicles. Through the KBLBB policy establishment, she appreciated this new regulation to boost EV usage for the whole realm, including the ministry agencies.
“We greatly welcome this IEMS event in the last three years to spread a fruitful education to society related to the importance of transforming battery-based electric vehicles to reach Net Zero Emission in Indonesia. On the other hand, IEMS 2022 is expected to open up strategic collaboration between diverse stakeholders in realizing a reasonable price of electric vehicle products to expedite the KBLBB program in the country,” affirmed Sripeni.
Initiated by BRIN, this expo presents multiple EV technology infrastructure and ecosystem innovations, spanning the brand of two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, electric vehicle battery products, and other EV sector backers as the national automotive industry achievement.
In its implementation, around 50 exhibitors from multiple electric sectors animate this automotive exhibition, including Moderntec, PLN, Volta, Nissan, Astra Otoparts, Selis, AHM, Wuling, ABC Lithium, Dyvolt Vehicle, United E-Motors, Rakata Motorcycle, EVCuzz charging station, Davigo, and other electric vehicle products from multiple schools in Indonesia. The visitor can visit the expo and experience the electric vehicle products in the Test Drive area without any admission fee.
