Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, attended the ASEAN tourism ministers’ meeting on Sunday (01/19) in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, as part of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2025 activities.
In the meeting, Widiyanti conveyed the Indonesian government’s commitment to strengthening tourism cooperation among ASEAN countries, particularly in creating quality and sustainable tourism. She said, “Each ASEAN country has unique cultures and different destination attractions. We agree that one of the keys to the growth of the tourism sector is strengthening collaboration between countries and various parties.”
Widiyanti added that the outcomes of this ASEAN countries meeting would serve as a strategic reference to encourage the recovery and development of tourism and the economy in Indonesia and the region. Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of partnerships with the private sector as part of the collective solution.
“Strengthening collaboration with the private sector is crucial. This active partnership ensures that regional programs provide inclusive benefits for all stakeholders, including government, businesses, and communities,” she emphasized.
As part of the series of events, the 28th Meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers (28th M-ATM) also involved cooperation forums with ASEAN dialogue partners, including the 24th Meeting of ASEAN, China, Japan, and Republic of Korea Tourism Ministers; the 12th Meeting of ASEAN-India Tourism Ministers; and the 4th Meeting of ASEAN-Russian Federation Tourism Ministers.
ATF 2025 reinforces ASEAN’s commitment to establishing strategic partnerships with partner countries to advance inclusive, innovative, and sustainable tourism globally.
