Heaptalk, Jakarta — PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk and TikTok performed another strategic collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gadjah Mada University (UGM) to establish the digital talent development center, GoTo x TikTok x UGM Technology Center.
The establishment of this technology hub aims to increase Indonesia’s digital talent amidst the rising requirements for digital talent in the country. In addition to providing talent, this measure is expected to enhance other technology players in Indonesia’s digital economy.
Vice-Rector for Planning, Assets, and Information Systems of UGM University, Arief Setiawan Budi Nugroho, conveyed, “Our cooperation with these technology companies to open the GoTo x TikTok x UGM Technology Center is part of our effort to train the digital talents to be innovative, creative, and competitive, to boost the country’s digital economy further. On behalf of UGM, I appreciate their contribution to pioneering the strategic collaboration between academia and businesses to train Indonesia’s digital talents to compete globally,”
In accelerating the digital talent development, GoTo Group and TikTok will initiate several efforts, including:
- Strategic partnership to elevate learning-based solutions
- An internship program for UGM students
- An employee exchange program that will enable employees recruited by TikTok in Indonesia to be assigned to TikTok’s offices worldwide
- Development of educational resources to facilitate knowledge and experience sharing with UGM students, covering online courses for students

This tech center will be opened at the Innovation and Creativity Gallery (GIK), UGM’s innovation and creation hub. GIK UGM focuses on research and innovation to bolster students’ learning in collaboration with the government and businesses. As additional information, this effort is a follow-up move from GoTo Group’s recruitment of digital talent from Yogyakarta and surrounding areas.
