Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s ride-hailing Gojek has officially released a GoRide Transit as its latest multimodal service feature integrating ride-hailing and public transportation services in one transaction.
In more detail, GoRide Transit provides holistic integration between ride-hailing services and public transportation, wherein one transaction, users can order a GoRide to the station, buy a public transportation service ticket of KRL Commuter line, and continue their journey from the station to their final destination with GoRide. The company claimed this new feature had served users at 82 KRL stations around Jakarta Greater Area.
The subsidiary of GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Group also integrates the GoRide Transit with the journey planner to make it easier for users to estimate travel time, route recommendations, location of stations traveled, and access GoRide’s last-mile services.
In response to this launch, the President Director of GoTo Group, Patrick Walujo, affirmed, “The presence of GoRide Transit aligned with the company’s strategy in providing numerous products to reach more extensive consumers, particularly for the public transportation users. Through this feature, we continue supporting Indonesia’s government’s endeavor to elevate public transportation service by furnishing an accessible mobility experience more quickly and affordably.”
As an on-demand service company based in Indonesia, the newest GoRide Transit feature offers multiple simplicities for its customers. Users who travel long distances from sub-urban areas, such as Bogor, Bekasi, and Tangerang, to business centers in Jakarta will experience affordable trip expenses.
As revealed by the Research Center for Transportation and Logistics Studies at Gadjah Mada University (PUSTRAL UGM), users who use the GoRide Transit service can save up to 27% on each trip compared to previous travel patterns before using this transportation service.
On the other hand, customers can also shorten their time by using GoRide’s first-mile and last-mile (from home to station and from station to office transportation services), carried out in one transaction outright by purchasing public transportation tickets. By making multimodal trips, PUSTRAL UGM revealed that users can curtail their time by up to 15%.
Previously, the PUSTRAL UGM research revealed the new GoRide Transit service of Gojek has increased public interest in utilizing public transportation more efficiently. Moreover, the research disclosed an increase in the movement of Gojek service users to KRL by 38.3% from users’ travel patterns before using Gojek’s multimodal solution. On the other hand, a combination of trips like this contributes to reducing carbon emissions by up to 5,507 tons throughout 2022.
“We look forward to this service will facilitate people’s mobility, support increased use of mass transportation, and overcome the problems of congestion and air pollution in urban areas,” Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi affirmed during the Hub Space x KAI Expo 2023.
The launch of the new GoRide Transit feature can only be accessed at the KRL Jakarta Greater Area and Jogja-Solo KRL stations. The GoTo Group subsidiary plans to integrate this service with other public transportation, covering TransJakarta, MRT, LRT, and KCIC.
