GCIO training and certification organized by East Kalimantan Diskominfo and Inixindo are expected to improve public service performance by taking advantage of digital technology.

Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan through the Department of Communication and Informatics (Diskominfo) in collaboration with PT Inixindo Amiete Mandiri (Inixindo Bandung) held training and certification of the Government Chief Information Officer (GCIO) for heads of regional apparatuses for three days on May 23-25, 2023, at the Mercure Hotel Jakarta Gatot Subroto.

This activity was attended by 35 participants including the governor’s expert staff, heads of regional apparatuses, heads of bureaus of the East Kalimantan Provincial Secretariat (Setdaprov), and heads of regent/city Communication and Informatics Department throughout East Kalimantan.

In her opening remarks, the Regional Secretary of East Kalimantan Province, Sri Wahyuni, said that this training and certification was important for heads of regional apparatuses in utilizing information and technology. Further, these skills are expected to improve the performance of public services.

“Hopefully after participating in this GCIO training, we will perform better, primarily in providing better and more efficient services,” said Sri. Further, she invited regional apparatus heads to take advantage of digital technology to facilitate performance achievements and increase work efficiency through various innovations.

Meanwhile, the Head of the East Kalimantan Diskominfo, Muhammad Faisal, voiced, “In general, GCIO is a strategic role in managing information technology in the government sphere. Competence in this role will create the success of the SPBE, Smart City, and Smart Province programs.”

According to one of the participants, Head of the East Kutai Communication and Informatics, Statistics and Encryption Department (Diskominfo Staper), Ery Mulyadi, this GCIO training and certification is the proper time to increase capacity as his department is tasked with communication and informatics.

Ery believes that digital transformation should be supported by adequate digital infrastructure. “As we know there are many areas in East Kalimantan, particularly in East Kutai, where digital infrastructure is still inadequate. Certainly, this is our joint responsibility, the government, primarily the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, to help build infrastructure facilities,” he concluded.
