The three-day training course on tourism destination management aims to encourage participants to innovate and take advantage of opportunities in developing the tourism sector.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai Tourism Department organized a three-day training course on tourism destination management on May 19-21, 2023 at the Pelangi Room Hotel Victoria, North Sangatta. This activity was attended by 75 participants consisting of tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis), tourism business actors, tourism activists, and nature lovers in East Kutai.
In his remarks when opening the activity, the Head of the East Kutai Tourism Department, Nurullah, said that tourism is one of the driving sectors of the economy in East Kutai. Moreover, this sector makes a large contribution to the country. Therefore, Nurullah believes that this kind of training session is important to develop existing tourism.
Nurullah voiced, “The stretching of tourism and the movement of millions of people on tourist trips indirectly also requires the government together with managers of tourist destinations to continue to consistently improve the quality of the tourism, including the destinations, industry, institutions, and marketing.”
Further, Nurullah explained that there are several aspects that must be considered in marketing products, including tourism products, one of which is the development of the tourism economy in the management of tourism destinations.
In addition, knowledge and experience are essential in setting up and running a tourism business, such as in preparing tourist visit packages, developing strategies for implementing destination markets, setting selling prices for business products, and establishing tourism product branding to support tourism competitiveness.
With this training session, Nurullah hoped that the participants can innovate and take advantage of existing opportunities. Besides, the tourism sector cannot be developed by itself but there must be synergy and collaboration with various parties, including the government.
