“I think this is going to be one of the largest AI markets in the world,” said founder and CEO of Nvidia Jensen Huang.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — Nvidia announced its plan to develop AI technology and skills in the world’s most populous nation India through collaboration with Reliance Industries Limited and Tata Group (09/08).
“I think this is going to be one of the largest AI markets in the world,” said founder and CEO of Nvidia Jensen Huang in Bengaluru, India, cited from the company’s official blog (09/08). Huang recently closed a week of high-level meetings across India, including with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, AI researchers, and business leaders.
Nvidia will work together with subsidiaries of both Reliance Industries and Tata Group, namely Jio Platforms and Tata Communications in building and operating AI supercomputing data centers. Nvidia will provide access to its technology, such as GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip and DGX Cloud. Jio Platforms and Tata Communications can utilize the technology for internal AI development and infrastructure-as-a-service for researchers, companies, and the startup ecosystem in India.
GH200 has a massive memory bandwidth. Meanwhile, DGX Cloud with its supercomputing service in the cloud can facilitate enterprises to prepare their employees for AI technology, access the technology internally, and bring AI services to customers.
Building AI chatbots, drug discovery, and climate research
According to Huang, computer science expertise is a core competency for India. Coupled with access to technology and capital, he is optimistic that India will be able to develop AI in an effort to help answer challenges in the country and the world. “You have the data. You have the talent. We are open for business and bring great expertise on building supercomputers,” voiced Huang.
According to its official release, Jio Platforms’ plan to build an AI cloud infrastructure is expected to accelerate various key initiatives and AI projects in India, spanning AI chatbots, drug discovery, and climate research.
“As India advances from a country of data proliferation to creating technology infrastructure for widespread and accelerated growth, computing and technology super centres like the one we envisage with NVIDIA will provide the catalytic growth just like Jio did to our nation’s digital march. I am delighted with the partnership with NVIDIA and looking forward to a purposeful journey together,” conveyed Chairman & Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited Mukesh Ambani on the company’s official release (09/08).
