Heaptalk, Jakarta — PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) is collaborating with PT Intercrus Aero Indonesia, a startup manufacturing electric vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft, to develop a flying taxi.

This collaboration includes developing, certifying, manufacturing, and commercializing an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) product called Intercrus Sola. Moh. Arif Faisal, PTDI’s director of commerce, technology, and development, and Jeremy Hasian Saragih, PT Intercrus Aero Indonesia’s Founder and CEO, signed the cooperation agreement in the Plenary Meeting Room, PTDI Management Center Building, 9th Floor, Bandung, on June 12.

Intercrus Sola is an electric VTOL aircraft with a capacity of four passengers and a payload of 1,200 kg. This aircraft will enable travel 9-10 times faster than cars, with a range of 100 km in urban areas and a maximum speed of 150 km/h. The aircraft is designed in accordance with Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR) Part 27 by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Ministry of Transportation of Indonesia.

Meeting the needs of civil aviation, logistics, and tourism

Gita Amperiawan, President Director of PTDI, stated, “With the increasing demand for Advanced Air Mobility aircraft, such as e-VTOL planes, the product being developed in collaboration with PT Intercrus Aero Indonesia can help address traffic congestion in metropolitan areas, reduce transit time, and improve economic efficiency. This will also enhance PTDI’s technological value and engineering capabilities in the AAM sector.”

Furthermore, Gita hopes that the technical teams from PTDI and PT Intercrus Aero Indonesia will progressively develop this industry technology in the future, not only as an AAM product to meet the needs of civil aviation, logistics, and tourism but also for military and defense purposes.

The strategic collaboration between PTDI and PT Intercrus Aero Indonesia is expected to support the development of air taxis in Indonesia. “With this partnership with PTDI, we can develop autonomous flight offerings for passengers in urban areas. Currently, PT Intercrus Aero Indonesia is in the final stages of prototype design, which is planned to be certified by the DGCA and gradually undergo certification by the Federal Aviation Administration,” Jeremy Hasian Saragih, Founder & CEO of PT Intercrus Aero Indonesia concluded.
