Heaptalk, Jakarta — Pertamina New and Renewable Energy (NRE) has established a partnership with the Coal Power Generation Company Bangladesh Limited (CPGCBL) to develop a solar power plant.
With a capacity of 500MW, this solar power plant will be built in Moheshkhali and other potential areas in Bangladesh. This partnership is expected to bring significant progress in the renewable energy sector, contributing to energy security and sustainability and achieving a cleaner future for the country.
Abul Kalam Azad, Managing Director of CPGCBL, and Fadli Rahman, Acting CEO of Pertamina NRE, signed the cooperation MoU at the Crystal Ballroom, Hotel Intercontinental, Dhaka, Bangladesh (07/15). This MoU signing follows the government-to-government (G2G) MoU signed between Indonesia and Bangladesh in 2017. The two energy companies have also conducted feasibility studies on this collaboration.
Supporting Bangladesh’s national energy security
“We warmly welcome the cooperation between CPGCBL and Pertamina NRE. CPGCBL is a leading power company in Bangladesh, and Pertamina NRE has the capability and experience in managing a clean energy portfolio,” stated Nelwin Aldriansyah, CFO of Pertamina NRE, in a written statement.
Nelwin is optimistic that this strategic partnership will lay the foundation for collaboration that enhances the companies’ operational capabilities. This step is expected to drive growth and innovation for Pertamina NRE and CPGCBL while supporting Bangladesh’s national energy security.

Coal Power Generation Company Bangladesh Limited (CPGCBL) is a public company owned by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. It was established to generate electricity. The company has a mandate to implement power plant development schemes under Bangladesh’s Private Sector Power Generation Policy and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Policy.
Meanwhile, Pertamina NRE operates a power generation portfolio of more than 2.7 gigawatts, including gas-to-power, solar PV, geothermal, and biogas. The company is part of Pertamina, which was listed as a Fortune 500 company.
