Heaptalk, Jakarta — PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) unveiled the eVX electric car concept at GIIAS 2024, marking its first public appearance in Southeast Asia. Several popular models are also showcased at the Suzuki Indonesia booth in Hall 8C ICE BSD from July 17-28, 2024.
The eVX is Suzuki’s first electric vehicle concept as part of their EV world strategic model, designed as an environmentally friendly SUV for both on-road and off-road driving. The manufacturer believes that electric vehicles (BEV) is one of the solutions to tackle global environmental issues while offering more vehicle alternatives to meet customer needs.
Developing environmentally friendly vehicles is a crucial mission for Suzuki Indonesia. Three Suzuki hybrid models, part of the Low Carbon Emission Vehicle program, are also mainstays in the Indonesian automotive market. The BEV currently being developed is another alternative included in Suzuki’s global strategy.
Response to the challenges of carbon neutrality
As part of Suzuki’s global strategy, Minoru Amano, President Director of PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales, conveyed that the eVX electric car concept is expected to serve as a reference for Suzuki’s future response to the challenges of carbon neutrality. “Suzuki is developing various unique carbon-neutral solutions for the global automotive industry. The multi-pathway strategy is Suzuki’s global approach to addressing the issue of carbon neutrality, one of which is through the development of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), which are currently a hot topic,” stated Amano.
eVX adopts the theme of High-tech x Adventure, a combination of high technology and a strong SUV silhouette. Its dimensions are suitable for urban and off-road terrain, with a length of 4,300 mm, a width of 1,800 mm, and a height of 1,800 mm. The BEV platform makes the eVX’s interior space spacious. Its sophistication is visualized through a sizeable seamless display and dial shift, reflecting High-tech x Adventure.
Furthermore, the eVX will be equipped with the latest EV 4WD Allgrip drive system, an evolution specifically for electric cars from the previous system Suzuki developed. This electric car concept offers a range of up to 500 km. The eVX’s appearance in Indonesia, specifically at GIIAS 2024, is the third in the world after India and Japan, marking the importance of appreciation for the enthusiasm and awareness of the Indonesian public towards environmentally friendly vehicles.
