Heaptalk, Jakarta — GudangAda declared its cooperation with South Tangerang Government and Kitabisa, an online-based crowdfunding platform to distribute the business capital for MSMEs, particularly stall enterprises.
This action is conducted to implement its long-term contribution to empowering traditional shops in Indonesia through its campaign, namely the 1 Juta Warung Melek Digital, which targetting small stores around the South Tangerang area.
The report of Indonesia’s Ministry of Cooperative and SME revealed that the number of MSMEs affected by the COVID-19 pandemic reached 37,000. Multiple challenges faced by the MSMEs include a decrease in turnover by 56%, the business capital issues of 22%, obstructed distribution gain of 15%, and raw materials troubles of 4%.
Despite the tremendous numbers, MSMEs in the South Tangerang demonstrated significant improvement, touching 90,000 MSMEs scattered in various industries, such as fashion, craft, and culinary.
Perceiving from the data, the MSMEs has proven their resilience as they can achieve stable income during the pandemic by implementing a strict health protocol and operational hour restrictions. This result also shows that the MSMEs, even exceeded the expectation since the enhancement has sharply jumped compared to the preceding years, which only reached 36,000.
“MSMEs are supposed to be creative, innovative, and adaptive to market situations. The presence of the GudangAda platform is believed to accelerate digital transformation for MSMEs in the South Tangerang area to create digital literacy stores in this city,” uttered Head of Cooperative and MSME Service in South Tangerang, Wawan Syanudin.
Furthermore, according to the Kitabisa record, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Indonesia’s creative economy is espoused by three sub-sectors, including culinary at 41,5%, fashion at 17,7%, and craft industry at 15%.
Head of Brand Partnership of Kitabisa, Marisa Thara Wardhani, uttered, “We appreciate this B2B e-commerce platform for having an inspiring initiation to support the Empowered Citizens movement by promoting Indonesia’s MSMEs affected by the pandemic. GudangAda delivered the donation of $13,882 to the recipients in the form of capital donation.”
Likewise, Chief Commercial Officer of GudangAda, Budianto Hariadi, stated that this startup plans to empower MSMEs as one of the national economic pillars. Over 64 million MSMEs absorb a workforce of 97% and contribute to a national GDP of 60%. This amount indicates the significant role of MSME in Indonesia’s economy. By participating in Kitabisa’s program, Brand’s Movement for Kindness (GEBRAKAN), the platform will distribute the donations of Rp200 million or around USD13,800 (USD1 equals Rp14,492) dedicated to Indonesia’s MSMEs affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
