Heaptalk, Jakarta – Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investment is now a trend in which investors put their money to work with startups/corporates that want to make the world a better place for everyone. There are a number of factors to consider in this context to assist investors in evaluating a company’s policies and practices in these areas, including seeing how women are involved equally in the running of a company.
According to Shuyin Tang, Co-Founder & CEO at the Beacon Fund, the implementation of ESG must be perceived more extensively, and it is also necessary, from her perspective as a female leader, to bring added value that benefits women. In terms of inclusiveness, for example, as a female leader who grew up in Vietnam, she saw that women started to be positioned as equal figures with equal opportunities to raise and contribute to the company’s growth. Similarly, in terms of working culture, she claims that the company has begun to gear up a gender-dynamic environment with fair treatment and competition, rather than simply composing how many women are in a management formation.
Meanwhile, in the entrepreneurial domain, there are many female figures who have risen to spur innovation and generate novel solutions to people’s problems. Many female entrepreneurs have begun to make significant contributions and ideas that have a significant impact by influencing positive changes in society by raising awareness of the concept of economic sustainability-based business, community empowerment, and climate change concerns.
Apart from the fact that investment focusing on women is appealing from the investor side, as many female figures are beginning to place their positions in strategic and important areas, such as being part of the decision-making process. According to FemaleFunders, women now account for 7% of deal-making venture capitalists.
In Vietnam, the evolving social structure has an impact on the maturity of the women who are assuming leadership roles. It is paving the way for women to take on new roles that are not only limited to the confines of the family but can also have a significant impact on the community and society as a whole.
