Heaptalk, Sangatta — East Kutai’s Vice Regent, Kasmidi Bulang, informed that the government put a serious effort to suppress the inflation rate in the regency. To embody this goal, the local government has allocated over US$246,000 or Rp 4 billion to organize bazaar in several subdistrict in the regency (US$1 equals Rp16,279).
“Thank God, this program has been carried out for three years, and still ongoing. Every year, we always allocate our regional budget to the Department of Trade and Industry (Disperindag). This year, we disbursed around Rp 4 billion to organize this bazaar,” stated the Vice Regent Kasmidi in the official release.
He added that this activity would stabilize the price of staple food in the area, easing the regional inflation rate while driving creative economic growth. Importantly, Kasmidi underscored that the measure will assist society in meeting their basic needs.
Further, the Vice Regent voiced that this year, East Kutai’s Government is set to organize the event in six subdistricts, including Rantau Pulung, Batu Ampar, Sangkulirang, Kaliorang, Muara Bengkal, and Muara Ancalong.
“We already held the bazaar in two areas, namely in Rantau Pulung and Batu Ampar, and today we are organizing the event in Sangkulirang,” voiced Kasmidi when delivering his remarks at the opening of the Bazaar in Sangkulirang.
In its implementation, the East Kutai’s Government to provide around 3,100 packages containing staple food worth US$18.44 (Rp300,000) that is priced at US$6.15 (Rp100,000). Perceiving the price, the government has granted subsidize of around US$12.29 (Rp200,000) for each package.
In the near future, Kasmidi conveyed that the local government will re-allocate the altered regional government budget for this program, thus the Bazaar is expected to be performed in 18 subdistricts this year.
