Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s digital bank, Bank Jago, ties with Google Cloud to boost the bank industry in Indonesia. In this cooperation, this banking platform and DKatalis, as its technology solutions partner, will leverage Google Cloud’s BigQuery and Vertex AI platforms, aiming to enhance customer banking experiences, streamline internal operations, and generate tangible business returns.

“As a tech-based bank, Bank Jago aspires to enhance the growth of millions through life-centric digital financial solutions powered by the latest cloud, data, and AI innovations. Since 2021, we’ve been utilizing Google Cloud’s in-country infrastructure and industry-leading services to make banking more accessible and convenient for everyone.” President Director of Bank Jago, Arief Harris, affirmed.

This new collaboration also enables Bank Jago to harness generative AI (gen AI) capabilities through Vertex AI, which is seamlessly integrated with BigQuery’s data analytics tools. With this combination, Bank Jago can consistently deliver innovative products, services, and features tailored to its customers’ evolving needs and expectations.

Furthermore, Google Cloud provides Bank Jago with a fully managed environment for agile innovation, with built-in security, compliance, and governance features. For instance, Vertex AI incorporates Google Cloud’s data encryption and access controls to safeguard Bank Jago’s AI models and training data. With Vertex AI Model Registry, Bank Jago has established a centralized library for AI models, ensuring developers use only pre-approved models. This accelerates solution development, eliminates redundant assessments, and mitigates risks.

To validate the functionality of its AI solutions before full-scale deployment, Bank Jago and DKatalis leverage Vertex AI Pipelines to implement standardized workflows. Over the past three months, Bank Jago has utilized Google’s foundation AI models via Vertex AI Model Garden to develop and deploy generative AI applications that optimize operations and enhance customer service. These applications include:

  1. A risk management tool that examines transaction patterns to identify potentially fraudulent activities. It generates alerts in natural language, enabling bank staff to take swift and informed action. This application highlights Bank Jago’s dedication to maintaining responsible banking practices.
  2. A market insights assistant that processes various customer interactions to provide product development teams with a clearer understanding of customer sentiments. This tool quickly generates actionable insights from text and audio interactions, reducing analysis time from months to minutes.
  3. A contact center training assistant that accelerates the learning curve for contact center agents, helping them meet quality assurance standards faster. Automatically analyzing call recordings offers personalized feedback and targeted recommendations to enhance agent performance. Additionally, it allows for more customer calls to be evaluated compared to the previous 5% without AI support.

“Through its initial collaboration with Google Cloud, Bank Jago implemented an asset-light, app-based business model to capture the growing demand for digital financial services in Indonesia and sustain its positive growth trajectory. Under this new collaboration, Bank Jago is adopting a platform-based approach to quickly and responsibly bring enterprise-grade generative AI solutions to market.” Mark Micallef, Managing Director for Google Cloud Southeast Asia, conveyed.

As of the third quarter of 2024, the banking app serves more than 14 million customers. Over 67% of the Jago App’s funding customers came from ecosystem partners, notably the GoTo ecosystem and the Bibit online mutual fund platform, which seamlessly integrates with the Jago App.
