Volvo EX30 launched at GIIAS 2024, offering an eco-friendly compact SUV

Heaptalk, Jakarta — Participating in one of World’s largest automotive expo the 2024 GIIAS, Volvo debuts its first fully-electric vehicle in Indonesia, Volvo EX 30 SUV. Offering in two variants, Volvo EX 30 presents a compact eco-friendly SUV with Scandinavian design.

Volvo Cars’s Retail Operation and Aftermarket Manager for Asia Pacific Importers, Mikael Hagsten-Nielsen, stated, “Volvo has provided consumers insight to reveal a demand to a compact electric vehicle that embodies a core global attribute of safety, flexibility, comfort, and Scandinavian design. The EX30 is tailored to be the needs of urban people and eco-conscious consumers in Indonesia”(07/17).

Volvo EX30 is available in two variants: Volvo EX30 Plus and EX30 Ultra. Nielsen added that by the launch of the EX 30, Volvo eyes 30 tonnes over the vehicle’s entire lifecycle.

Regarding the detailed specification, EX30 features an official long range of 476 km (WLTP). The Single Motor is powered by a 200kW rear-wheel drive motor with two battery options, spanning NMC for long-rage version and LFP for entry-level Single Motor.

NMC battery provides high energy density while LFP battery for entry-level Single Motors is a cost-effective as it does not require huge energy. The battery also can be charged from10% to 80% in only around 26 minutes. Volvo also claims EX30 can launch 100 km per hour in only 5.3 seconds. For this ultimate specification, the EX30 Plus is priced at Rp890,000,000 while the EX30 Ultra is at Rp1,160,000,000.

General Manager of Volvo Cars Indonesia, Haryanto Djayaputra explained that the presence of EX30 will assist Indonesia to achieve its sustainability target, namely 2 million EVs use in 2030.  Meanwhile, Volvo also recognized a big demand in a compact EV SUV. Seizing this opportunity, the brand launches two variants of EX30 directly.

According to President Director of Volvo Cars Indonesia Yoshiya Horigome, the market’s response to Volvo’s products surpassed the company’s projection. Hitherto, Vlvo has distributed over 250 cars, and SUVs have always been the customer’s primary preference. For this achievement, Horigome announced to open the first showroom in East Java in 2025.
