Heaptalk, Jakarta — ASDP Indonesia Ferry, a state-owned enterprise engaged in integrated ferry and port services, has prepared several strategies to anticipate a passenger surge and extreme weather.
The passenger surge is predicted to reach 4.1%, with around 3,070,317 people. The number of trips is expected to reach around 14,600, involving 769,259 vehicles, including motorcycles, cars, buses, and trucks. To anticipate the vehicle surge, ASDP is implementing a delaying system in collaboration with the Traffic Corps and Police.
The delaying system aims to prevent people using vehicles from heading directly to the docks or ports. ASDP has prepared buffer zones around the ports as parking areas to accommodate vehicles preparing to board the ships. Access will be opened when the port conditions are stable, and travelers can continue their journey to the port.
Extreme weather till early January
“We have prepared this (buffer zone), and the capacity is quite large. Once again, I must emphasize that we cannot do this alone. The key to success is good coordination and cooperation among all stakeholders,” stated Heru Widodo, President Director of ASDP Indonesia Ferry, at a press conference in the Ministry of SOEs, Central Jakarta (12/19).
Meanwhile, BMKG has predicted that extreme weather will occur until early January. The company is also coordinating with the Directorate General of Sea Transportation (KSOP), the Ministry of Transportation, and BMKG to monitor the weather and determine the necessary measures. KSOP is the operator that regulates the ship schedules.
“I hope this Christmas and New Year period can proceed successfully and smoothly. This is our moment to provide the best service, especially since we are a state-owned enterprise. So, I think it’s not only about making a profit, but we also prioritize serving our community,” Heru concluded.
