Of the 17 creative economy subsectors, there are six which are the leading subsectors of East Kutai: fashion, culinary, music, craft, photography, and film.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai Tourism Department is currently running a program to improve 17 creative economy sub-sectors, one of which is training in the development of creative economy human resources. The training was held for three days on June 23-25, 2023, at the Pelangi Room, Hotel Royal Victoria, North Sangatta.
Participants consisted of 75 representatives from 17 subsectors, including architecture, music, fine arts, product design, culinary, and photography. According to the Head of the Creative Economy Development Sector, Akhmad Rifani, the creative economy is a new program at the Tourism Department, but it is already familiar in the daily lives of the people of East Kutai.
“The creative economy has long existed in East Kutai. For example, there are many graphic photography communities in East Kutai. Several films have participated in competitions at the national level. Before we presented the creative economy development program, the communities had already worked in this field and there were many other examples,” explained Rifani.
Based on Rifani’s observations, the regency has quite a high creative economic potential. However, the lack of in-depth evaluation means that the extent of this potential is not yet known. Of the 17 existing subsectors, currently, there are at least six which are the leading subsectors of East Kutai, spanning fashion, culinary, music, craft, photography, and film.
Apart from the six subsectors, the Department certainly does not ignore other subsectors. “For the time being, we agree that the six subsectors are developing in East Kutai. Other subsectors will gradually develop as well,” Rifani voiced.
Further, he urged all participants to attentively absorb the knowledge provided by the speakers. The knowledge conveyed in the training will not only be useful for oneself but can also be implemented in society. Rifani hopes that after attending this training, the participants will be able to apply their knowledge in everyday life, primarily in their work.
