Heaptalk, Tangerang City – The existence of a widely spread COVID-19 back then was able to paralyze various sectors, especially the economy in Tangerang City. In response to the unfortunate event, the Municipale of Tangerang has been recorded in realizing various policy breakthroughs that are considered a success in terms of improving Tangerang City’s economy.

The policy breakthrough to improve the economy post COVID-19 cannot be separated by the commitment of the Mayor of Tangerang City, Arief R. Wismansyah, and the Vice Mayor of Tangerang City, Sachrudin, by being devoted to the residents of Tangerang City in general.

Through the performance optimization of the Tangerang City Department of Trade, Industry, Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (Disperindagkop UKM), several policies to reinforce the economy productivity have been optimally done, for instance by supplying stocks for MSMEs, facilitating halal certificates and laboratory tests for MSMEs, as well as providing various training for MSMEs. Moreover, those programs were given free to improve product competitiveness from all MSMEs vendors in Tangerang City.

“(During pandemic), when there were many companies doing layoffs, when the economy course had to be put in halt, I was still encouraging all sectors for MSMEs to keep on producing and selling. Although the transaction was small, if thousands of them in Tangerang City were collected, the transaction would be bigger. The money could still circulate and the economy could still work despite the limitations,” explained Head of Perindagkop UKM Tangerang City, Suli Rosadi, in her press in Tangerang City Government Center, Wednesday (27/12).

Not only realizing policy breakthroughs to revive the continuity production of MSMEs in Tangerang City, the Tangerang City Municipale also gives a full commitment in providing manpower to fill the vacant industrial and creative industry spot in Tangerang City. Through the various training programs being provided, Tangerang City Municipale through the Department of Manpower (Disnaker) is considered a success to utilize the COVID-19 pandemic as a transition to prepare a better quality of human resources to reinforce the economy of Tangerang City..

“Training is not only for MSMEs vendors, we also provide training in the Job Training Center (BLK) and Entrepreneurship Training through SI PRAJA application. Besides training, we also held a routine Job Fair, opening up opportunities for future employees to earn their needs,” she continued.

Currently, Tangerang City Municipale is considered successful in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic by reinforcing the economy of Tangerang City. The municipality even recorded to have a better performance in the sector of reviving the economy post COVID-19 compared to other areas in Banten Province.

Tangerang City Economic Growth Rate (LPE) Data that was issued on December 6th 2023 demonstrated a significant improvement. The improvement went from 3.90% in 2021 to 5.98% in 2022. Meanwhile in 2023, the data has yet to be announced by Bappeda.
