Heaptalk, Jakarta — East Kutai Regency Government has successfully seized an award for the Tourism Village category in the Merdeka Awards 2023, received directly by the East Kutai’s Vice Regent, Kasmidi Bulang. (08/30)
During the awarding agenda, Vice Regent Kasmidi delivered, “We thank the organizers who have awarded East Kutai as the God of Tourism. I also appreciate the East Kutai’s headmen, who helped us demonstrate our positive performance. With this achievement, I hope we can be motivated to retain our outstanding progress,”
Kasmidi, in his further statement, admitted that obtaining a nomination is quite challenging and is needed to arrange multiple strategies. Moreover, regencies, cities, and provinces included in these nominations must carry out a further verification process in which only a small percentage of urban regencies, even provinces, have conquered this award.
To reach this achievement, he claimed that the district government had dispensed a large budget to the tourism industry in East Kutai. As a result, several strategies have also been performed, spanning tourism infrastructure development, locations inventory with high potential as tourist destinations, and human resources enhancement.
Regarding human resources, Kasmidi revealed that the government had discussed with multiple tourism practitioners, including the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) tourism service businesses, to synergize with each other in amplifying infrastructure and services in this sector.
Also, East Kutai’s government has organized several annual tourism events, covering the Miang Island Festival, Sekerat Nusantara Festival, Wahau Festival, and the national traditional party, Traditional Lomplai Party.
“We have complete tourism potential, including caves, beaches, waterfalls, and forests. For this reason, we will continue to carry out inventory to enter the process of improving supporting facilities,” Kasmidi said in his statement.
As additional information, The Merdeka Award is granted to Indonesia’s Ministries, Regional Governments, SOEs entities, and inspirational figures who have performed numerous innovations for the country’s evolution from various aspects.
