Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Ministry of Trade is committed to increasing the export of Indonesian products to South Korea. One effort includes supporting business meetings between entrepreneurs from both countries in multiple business forums and business matching events.
“Such meetings will also support the implementation of priority programs of the Ministry of Trade such as market expansion and the enhancement of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the Be Innovative, Ready to Adapt and Export (UMKM BISA Ekspor) program,” explained Fajarini Puntodewi, Director General of National Export Development at Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade, during the ASEAN-Korea Trade and Investment Facilities Mission to Indonesia in Jakarta on Monday (01/20).
This agenda was made possible by the collaboration of the ASEAN Korea Center (AKC), the Korean Importers Association (Koima), the Ministry of Trade, and the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, and supported by Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI).
Puntodewi added, “This business forum and business matching session between Indonesian and South Korean entrepreneurs can support the Ministry of Trade in expanding export markets and enhancing the UMKM BISA Ekspor program. This activity is also beneficial for implementing the Ministry of Trade’s export improvement efforts. We hope for positive results and increased exports to South Korea.”
The participants attended a business forum featuring presentations from representatives of the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia, BRI, and PT Indorasa Utama, which represents Indonesian entrepreneurs. Following that, the participants engaged in a business matching session. Around 60 Indonesian entrepreneurs and 11 South Korean entrepreneurs attended.
Puntodewi explained that South Korea is one of Indonesia’s most important economic partners in East Asia. He noted that trade and investment relations between Indonesia and South Korea have developed rapidly. From January to November 2024, the total trade between the two countries reached US$18.37 billion.
“This makes South Korea one of Indonesia’s most important economic partners in East Asia. This balanced trade shows how Indonesia and South Korea are growing together to achieve mutual prosperity,” concluded Puntodewi.
