Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) distributed the self-help housing stimulant assistance program (BSPS) to farmers in Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi Province. This assistance of Rp20 million per housing unit can be used to build a habitable house.
Director General of Housing at the PUPR Ministry Iwan Suprijanto explained that the BSPS program is the government’s effort to reduce uninhabitable houses. “Through the BSPS program, the government wants to improve the quality of people’s houses from previously uninhabitable to habitable. Apart from meeting the requirements for good building construction, the house being built must also meet healthy criteria for its residents,” said Iwan in Jakarta (10/25).
Meanwhile, the Head of the Housing Provision Implementation Agency (BP2P) Sulawesi III Iskandar Ismail said that his party recorded that in 2023 there were 166 uninhabitable houses that received BSPS in Bulukumba Regency. The distribution of aid is spread across nine districts, spanning Ujung Loe 10 units, Ujung Bulu 39 units, Bontobahari 20 units, Gantorang 20 units, Kindang 13 units, Bonto Tiro 13 units, Bulukumpa 10 units, Rilauale 10 units, and Kajang 40 units.
“The PUPR Ministry distributed assistance in the form of stimulant funds amounting to Rp20 million to beneficiaries. These funds can be used to purchase building materials Rp17.5 million and workers’ wages Rp2.5 million,” said Iskandar.
Support from regional government
Iskandar further said that his party had gone to the location of the BSPS program in Bijawang Village, Ujung Loe District. In this village, 10 heads of families have received phase 2 of the self-help housing quality improvement program (PKRS). The houses that have been completed are then labeled with the BSPS Program as a sign of completion of construction.
“The implementation of the BSPS Program in Bulukumba Regency can emulate the implementation in Bijawang Village as the program can be finished well, both in terms of comfort level and building construction. This activity can run well thanks to the support of the Regional Government, the active role of aid beneficiaries, heads of aid beneficiary groups, Field Facilitator Staff (TFL), Regency Coordinators (Korkab), and the staff of the South Sulawesi Province Housing Provision Work Unit BP2P Sulawesi III,” Iskandar explained.
One of the farmers in Bijawang Village, Uspar, who received this assistance said that he was very happy since his house had been renovated through the BSPS program. He and his neighbors worked together to complete the construction on time. “We, the residents of Bijawang Village, would like to express our deepest gratitude to the PUPR Ministry for providing assistance through the BSPS program,” concluded Uspar.
