Heaptalk, Jakarta — President Joko Widodo is optimistic that the national leadership transition scheduled for October 20, 2024, will proceed smoothly.
“I am very pleased with the transition process, which we hope will go well in the remaining 12 days. A smooth transition is important to maintain our collective optimism and ensure stability, both politically and economically,” Jokowi said in his speech at the BNI Investor Daily Summit 2024 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Tuesday (10/08).
Jokowi further noted that the transition is progressing well, with full involvement from elected President Prabowo in multiple substantial meetings related to future government programs.
“He has attended almost every plenary meeting and limited meeting, regardless of the topic. Previously, he was involved only in defense matters, but since becoming the elected President, he has been present in all meetings, ensuring that plans for flagship programs under President Prabowo are well-prepared with the current ministers,” he stated.
As an example, President Jokowi highlighted the frequent meetings between Prabowo and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani to prepare the 2025 State Budget Draft (RAPBN). He mentioned that this would enable the entire cabinet to work efficiently in the future.
“I don’t know how many times Mr. Prabowo has met with Minister Sri Mulyani, but it’s almost every week, sometimes even daily, to prepare for this. This indicates that, as mentioned by Mr. Enggar, the leadership transition will, God willing, go smoothly, allowing the new President and cabinet to work quickly on existing programs without delay,” he concluded.
