Heaptalk, Jakarta — President Joko Widodo inaugurated Kusuma Bangsa Park in the Nusantara Capital (IKN) area, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan Province (08/12). The park was built to honor the nation’s heroes and fighters.
Jokowi emphasized the importance of paying tribute to the nation’s heroes and founders, particularly Bung Karno and Bung Hatta. “This is once again our tribute to all the heroes and fighters of the nation,” Jokowi said.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Human Settlements at the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Diana Kusumastuti, stated that the park was designed to honor Indonesian heroes, where a solemn reflection ceremony will be held every August 17 at midnight. Kusuma Bangsa Park was a temporary site before creating a heroes’ cemetery in Nusantara Capital.
“Kusuma Bangsa Park is a place for us to honor Indonesian heroes, and this will be done every August 17 at 00:00 during the solemn reflection ceremony,” said Diana.
In addition, the park is an integral part of the Nusantara veranda area, which features the Nusantara protective wings and a flagpole. The 79-meter-tall flagpole has even set a record in the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) as the tallest flagpole in Indonesia.
She added, “There is also the Nusantara veranda, a bamboo structure that will provide information about how the construction of the Nusantara Capital is being carried out.” This inauguration marks a critical moment in Nusantara Capital’s development history, reaffirming the government’s commitment to honoring and remembering the nation’s heroes.
