Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the public from the dangers of online gambling. This action also gains strong support from national Information Technology (IT) experts.
Hokky Situngkir, Director General of Applications and Informatics of Komdigi stated that Minister Meutya Hafid and IT practitioners are determined to foster continued collaboration to make Indonesia’s digital landscape safer and more productive. “We need stronger collaboration across all fronts to make digitalization meaningful—safe, culturally rooted, ethical, and skill-focused,” Hokky explained in a recent meeting at the Komdigi headquarters in Central Jakarta.
During the discussion, Minister Meutya Hafid listened to feedback from IT experts and practitioners, signaling a proactive approach to refining digital security measures. “There was a wealth of input, and this won’t be our last meeting. Based on the feedback we received today, we’ve identified many areas for improvement,” Hokky noted.
IT expert Pratama Persadha emphasized that collaborative efforts will be instrumental in Indonesia’s fight against online gambling. “Komdigi is truly committed to eradicating online gambling, as directed by the President, and Minister Hafid has shown tremendous dedication to addressing this issue swiftly. This includes upgrading Komdigi’s internal technology,” Pratama said.
He further noted that collaboration with multiple stakeholders is essential for effective results. “We discussed implementing the most efficient methods for combating online gambling. This is not a task that Komdigi can tackle alone; it requires the involvement of various parties,” he added.
Pratama also highlighted Komdigi’s critical role as a protector of the public against the threats of online gambling. “Komdigi stands as a ministry that can truly advocate for and safeguard the people, particularly on issues like online gambling,” he concluded.
