Heaptalk, Bali — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko ‘Jokowi‘ Widodo, held a bilateral meeting with Zimbabwean Vice President Kembo Dugish Campbell Muleya Mohadi. (09/02)
During the meeting, President Jokowi highlighted three key issues to strengthen the cooperation between Indonesia and Zimbabwe. For economic cooperation, Jokowi emphasized the significance of a preferential trade agreement to strengthen the trade sector between the two nations.
“Indonesia is also eager to cooperate in the pharmaceutical sector. The strategic support of the Zimbabwean government is highly appreciated,” the President affirmed.
Related to the mining sector, President Jokowi revealed that the archipelago is currently exploring cooperation in lithium mining in Zimbabwe. He further mentioned that he would instruct the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, to expedite the finalization of the MoU.
Regarding the long-term cooperation, the President reaffirmed Indonesia’s readiness to amplify this strategic collaboration through programs tailored to the country’s needs via the Indonesia Aid mechanism. He also sought Vice President Mohadi’s support to ensure the smooth implementation of this strategic cooperation.
“The development of e-procurement in Zimbabwe has the potential to become one of our strategic projects. I ask for Your Excellency’s support in this regard,” the President added.
On the same occasion, Jokowi congratulated President Emmerson Mnangagwa on his re-election as Zimbabwe’s President. “I would also like to congratulate President Emmerson Mnangagwa on his re-election,” he affirmed.
Several key Ministers accompanied President Jokowi during the meeting, spanning Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Rosan Roeslani, and State Secretary Minister Pratikno.
